| INSTRUCTIONS: |
| 1.
Make color copies of antique photos (using color copies will
help preserve your original photos). Using color copies, select
coordinating fabrics for quilt and plan quilt pattern. Arrange
fabrics and photocopies on 12" x 18" length of shelf paper until
you are satisfied with design and colors; refer to photo for
suggestions. Using yardstick and sharp pencil, draw quilt pattern
on shelf paper. Pin pattern to foam sheet (do not cut apart);
using yardstick and sharp pencil, trace over pattern, scoring
foam. |
| 2.
Transfer color copies onto 100% cotton fabric, leaving a 1"
border around each transfer. Cut apart pattern. Pin pattern
pieces to quilt batting; cut out. Pin pattern pieces to fabrics;
cut out, adding a 3/8" seam allowance. |
| 3.
Work on a flat surface when "quilting" with the STYROFOAM Brand
Foam. To start, select the "square" closest to the middle; center
batting and fabric over selected square. Position artist's knife
or putty knife on the fabric directly over the scored line,
hold knife straight up and down, and push seam allowance into
foam along the scored line. The straighter the knife is held,
the cleaner and straighter the "seam" line will appear. Continue
"quilting" the fabric pieces, working from the center to the
outer areas. For pieces along the edges, glue seam allowance
to the edge of quilt. |
| 4.
Glue and pin 1" ribbon around edges of quilt, covering all seams. |
| 5.
Embellish quilt with lace, trims, ribbons, buttons, bows and
other traditional crazy quilt notions. The model in photograph
uses assorted gold trims to "frame" photos. |
